Edinburgh emergency services race to early morning bus and lorry crash on A71

Lothian emergency services raced to an early morning road crash between a bus and a lorry.

At around 8.15am on Tuesday police were called out to reports of a road collision between a bus and a lorry on the A71 near Wilkieston.

Officers raced to the scene as locals reported the incident causing heavy traffic disruption around the area.

Locals report the crash happening at the intersection of the A71 and Linburn road near the West Lothian town of Wilkieston.

It is not believed that any ambulances were required to attend the incident but it is not currently known if anyone was injured in the incident.

After officers swooped down to the site, they report that the road has since been cleared by emergency services.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.15am on Tuesday, 21 June, police were called to a report of a road crash involving a bus and a lorry on the A71 at Wilkieston. Officers attended and the road was cleared.”
