Edinburgh Easter egg hunts for kids and families to enjoy this school holiday

We're well into the school holidays now, with kids counting down the days until Easter Sunday and no doubt plenty of chocolate-y treats.

Parents may have already exhausted their lists of activities for the youngsters as they look to keep the wee ones occupied during the school break.

Thankfully, there's plenty of events taking place over the coming days and across Easter to fill the diary with, as we reported in our big round-up earlier this week.

The team behind the event, which costs £4 per ticket, say: "Come and have some Easter fun at Newhailes! Follow the trail, collect the clues, solve the puzzle and win your chocolate-y reward!

Easter treasure hunt

In aid of Drum Riding for the Disabled, an 'exciting fun-filled treasure hunt' will be held at the Drum Estate in Gilmerton.

Encouraging kids and families to come along, the team say: "Each participant will receive an Easter egg surprise at the end and the chance to enter a raffle to win a giant Easter Egg.

"There will be face painting, free tea, coffee and juice and delicious cake for sale for parents and adults."

Paddington's Easter Egg Hunt

Throughout the Easter holidays, Waterstones' Ocean Terminal is hosting a Paddington-themed Easter egg hunt for kids of all ages.

Describing the event, Waterstone's say: "Collect a sheet from a bookseller, hunt down the five cunningly concealed eggs hidden around the store and take down the words by each of them!

"Find them all, and you'll have your name entered into a raffle to win yourself a prize!

"This event will be running throughout the Easter break, is totally free and we encourage everyone to give it a go!"

Solve clues to find Easter eggs

If you fancy taking the kids on a bit of a day trip, then you can head to Culross for an Easter egg hunt with a bit of a difference, within the grounds of Dunimarle Castle.

Organisers describe the event by saying: "There could be no better place for an Egg Hunt, with acres of woodland, imposing castle towers and secret paths, it won’t be easy to find all the eggs, they’ll have to solve lots of fun clues and riddles along the way to make a word, and the correct word wins some chocolate goodies."
