Large queues formed outside a petrol station at Costco in Loanhead on Sunday afternoon leaving motorists in the car park trapped in their cars.
The pumps at Costco are popular with Costco card holders with the price of both petrol and diesel normally discounted by the wholesaler.
But rarely are queues, tens of cars deep, seen trying to gain access to fill up their vehicles.
One concerned Edinburgh shopper shared pictures of the problem at around 1.00pm on the afternoon of Sunday June 12.

Tailbacks are visible with the anonymous source describing chaos as cars struggle to manoeuvre around the Costco garage and parking lot.
The issue has meant that the entire car park is now at a “standstill” with people unable to get out or adequately access the petrol services.
It is understood that staff at the wholesaler are now in attendance trying to direct people in and out.
The source said: “So the whole car park is at a standstill as people are queuing for petrol and trying to get out.
“People can't reverse out of their spaces as the queues are up every road.
“There's a guy directing people to each petrol pump as there's so many cars.
“There must be about 30 plus vehicles at the moment waiting and it's getting bigger and bigger with each passing minute.”
The cost of petrol has soared recently with the war in Ukraine that has further exacerbated the cost of living crisis for Edinburgh residents.
The RAC recently issued a warning stating that fuel prices could hike to £2 per-litre in a few months time, with the cost of filling up a family car reaching the £100 mark.
Prices at some garages across Edinburgh and the Lothians have already seen a huge increase in recent weeks, with one in West Lothian already nearing the £2 per-litre mark.
And unsurprisingly the garage at Costco was recorded as being the cheapest in an article by Edinburgh Live on June 8 - with the petrol station charging 164.9 pence per-litre for unleaded.
