Edinburgh driver goes through red light and road closure after mounting kerb

A video that has been shared by a concerned Edinburgh resident appears to show a motorist mounting a kerb to drive through a closed road and red light.

In the footage, shared by Chrsitopher Moore, a black BMW is seen, on what appears to be the crossroads at Whitehouse Loan, driving over the kerb in reckless fashion as they attempt to get past a road closure.

Christopher who captured the video says that not only did the driver dangerously mount the pavement but they also went past a no entry sign and blockade.

The careless motorist was also seen travelling through a red light before speeding off around a corner.

It is understood that the road closure had been put in place as part of the temporary traffic safety measures - ‘Spaces for People’ - introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Christopher tweeted that: “I got the arrogant driver bingo just now

“Driving through a red light.

“Driving through a no entry sign.

“Driving on the pavement.”

‘Spaces for People’ measures were controversial when they were introduced during the pandemic with many Edinburgh residents divided about the introduction of certain road closures that were implemented to help make travelling safer for pedestrians.
