Edinburgh driver arrested after being four times over drink driving limit as police issue warning

Edinburgh police arrested a drunk driver on Friday night after they failed a roadside breath test, and later proved to be four times over the legal limit.

The officers were conducting static road checks on London Road, when the driver was randomly chosen. 43 vehicles were stopped during the check, with police issuing a warning that road checks will continue over the festive period.

Other offences found during the check included vehicle faults, no insurance and no MOTs.

“Static road checks will continue over the festive period #KeepingXmasSafe.”

This comes after Edinburgh police seized three vehicles during a winter spot check in Leith. On Friday night, officers found multiple vehicles with no insurance, mechanical defects and bald tyres - as well as one driver being found to have no license.
