"I don't expect society or schools to teach my child morals; that's my wife's and my responsibility. I'm old-fashioned, though."

But others disagreed, with some responding to Darren's post suggesting it was unfair to blame bad parenting.

Reflecting on the controversy the post caused, Darren said: "I am quite dismayed at the reaction the post received. It seems people are more offended at my reasoning than at the offence itself.

"That should not surprise me in this day and age, but it is disappointing."

Darren raised the vandalism incident with the City of Edinburgh Council on Friday, June 3.

The spokesperson for the City of Edinburgh Council has now confirmed that the issue has been raised with the team and resolved this morning, June 10.
