Edinburgh dad dies after being struck by car near major city roundabout

An Edinburgh dad has died in hospital after he was struck down by a car near a major city roundabout.

Joseph Wakeley was described as a “a loving son, father and brother” by his family this weekend after he passed away from his injuries on Saturday, August 6.

Police Scotland have confirmed enquiries are ongoing into the tragic incident on Millerhill Road, with anyone with information urged to get in touch as soon as possible.

According to officers, Joseph had been rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh after he was struck by the vehicle near the Sheriffhall Roundabout around 9am on Thursday, 4 August.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Sergeant Paul Ewing of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with Joseph’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information who has not yet spoken to an officer to get in touch.

“You can call 101, quoting reference 0775 of 4 August, 2022.”
