Shocking go-pro footage captures the moment an Edinburgh cyclist was almost taken out by a BMW that overtook another car in an attempt to make a green light in the city centre.
Sam Whyte was cycling in the Tollcross area of the city on Thursday, September 15, when the driver moved into the middle of the road to overtake the vehicle in front of them and pass the set of traffic lights that had already turned amber.
The footage Sam recorded from the camera mounted to his helmet shows the BMW coming to within inches of colliding with him and has been reported to the police. Speaking about the incident to Edinburgh Live, he added that it was "stupid" from the driver and deserves a talking-to by the police.
