An Edinburgh council car has been spotted with a crumpled bonnet next to a fallen anti-terror barrier in the Old Town.
The barrier on the Royal Mile was pictured lying across the pavement on Friday, with the smashed-up car on the cobbled road next to it.
The bonnet was severely damaged while on duty on Thursday night and the airbag can be seen at the steering wheel.

Edinburgh council is currently investigating the incident.
The anti-terror barriers were erected back in 2018 amid fears that tightly-congested areas between roadblocks would become more of a target.
In 2019, it was reported that the barriers were not considered as a 'long term' solution and the council’s public safety manager, John McNeill, said in September 2019, that the barriers are to stop “vehicles being used as a weapon” and could be used for “large buildings in the city centre that have large amount of people gathering around them, like theatres”.
Due to their appearance and causing a narrow pathway, the barriers were controversial with some arguing they would cause congestion and there was a concern from those with accessibility needs or buggies who can’t get through.
A City of Edinburgh Spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an incident overnight and are currently investigating.”
