Chapter One, a popular plant-based café on Dalry Road, left a note on their window on Monday informing customers that they will be closed on Tuesday, which is due to be one of the hottest days of the year, and telling people to "stay cool."

They added: "Our kitchen are too hot. And our front of house staff have melted into puddles... so we have made the decision to let them hit the sun loungers tomorrow instead of opening."
Temperatures on Tuesday are expected to top 30C in the capital, with the Met Office issuing an amber weather warning of extreme heat across Edinburgh and the Lothians. As well as businesses taking the opportunity to close, the Met Office have also warned that public transport could experience delays and disruption.
Warnings have also been issued by experts towards pet owners, advising them on how to keep animals such as cats and dogs cool during the soaring temperatures.
