Scores of Bruce Springsteen fans were seen gathering outside The Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh hoping to catch a glimpse of the rock and roll legend.
Shortly before 1pm on Tuesday and just hours before 73-year-old was to take centre stage at Murrayfield, a large group gathered outside the lavish Princes Street hotel under the assumption Bruce was staying there.
Images from the scene show police frantically keeping the crowd at bay as they gather around the entrance to try and catch sight of the American singer-songwriter - before leaving disappointed when they were informed he was not even staying there.

Multiple police cars were seen outside The Balmoral as officers formed a human shield guarding the entrance. It is currently unclear why such a large group of fans thought their hero was staying at the hotel - but officers informed them the Born in the USA singer was elsewhere before his Murrayfield gig.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.50pm on Tuesday, 30 May, 2023 we were made aware of crowds gathering outside a premises on Princes Street, Edinburgh. Officers attended for crowd control and traffic management."
Several people took to Twitter after passing through the busy shopping thoroughfare, saying the crowd were in danger of spilling out onto the road, as traffic was reportedly building in the area.
One user said: "I take it @springsteen is staying at The Balmoral when he’s in town. If he wants to get to Murrayfield on time for his gig tonight, traffic is a nightmare I hope he really has been ‘Born To Run’."
Another commented: "Just passed the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh…..I guess, judging by the crowds outside, that’s where Bruce is staying."
While a third added: "And Bruce Springsteen is at the balmoral so crowds have gathered and spilling onto road."
With recent Edinburgh performances from global icons Beyoncé and Harry Styles, Springsteen becomes the third huge name to entertain a packed-out Murrayfield crowd on Tuesday night, with congestion in and around the west end expected.
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band are set to play at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Tuesday, May 30. The event gates open at 4:30pm and it will finish by 10:30pm.
