An Edinburgh customer at a well respected West End bar has hit out at the business for being seated in the bar area where they were alleged to have been bumped into continuously.
The unhappy diner said that they were also only offered a reduced menu and that the food items were served to them in cardboard boxes. They say that they had been enticed to book The Huxley after seeing “amazing pictures of food” on the business website.
But they say that they were placed in the bar area where other customers constantly bumped into them and left their glasses on their table. They vowed never to return again.

It is worth noting that it appears as though the customer had visited the bar when Wales visited Murrayfield to take on Scotland in February. The Huxley is often a hot spot for rugby lovers to flock to as it is just a short walk from the stadium.
On their experience, the person left a two-star review on TripAdvisor which said: “Booked a meal for six via Open table after looking at the website and the amazing pictures of food. On arrival I found that we were booked into the bar area and were served a reduced menu, which was served in cardboard boxes.
“Table was next to other standing customers so we were constantly bumped or people leaving their glasses on our table. Never again…”
The manager of The Huxley responded to the customer but added that there only is a general bar area at the premises. They apologised for their experience but said that they hoped that they would return at a time when the Scotland rugby team were not playing at Murrayfield as the atmosphere can be very different on match day.
They said: “I am sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience with us. We unfortunately only have one area, which I guess could be classed as a bar. It can be a very different atmosphere on a rugby day from the way we usually trade.
"I hope that you will join us again on a day when it is not a home game at Murrayfield.”
The Huxley is well rated on TripAdviser, coming in the top 20 per cent of venues of its kind in the capital and being rated with four out of five stars. The vast majority of reviews are rated as excellent or very good by those who have visited the eatery.
One customer wrote on the reviewing site: “Visited twice during our weekend in Edinburgh. Fantastic food for a reasonable price and excellent friendly service.
“Can highly recommend it if you are looking for someone to stop off for some cosy food and drink.”
Whilst another added: “Went for a full Scottish breakfast day after Scotland / NZ rugby match with a colleague. Very quick service and excellent food. Thoroughly enjoyed and will be back the next time I stay overnight in Edinburgh.
“Conveniently located on the corner of Princes Street / Lothian Road.”
