Edinburgh Airport pilot spotted helping staff load passengers bags onto flight

An Edinburgh Airport pilot was spotted by passengers as he gave a helping hand to ground staff.

Getting ready to take off from the capital, the man was filmed by an individual on board as he got stuck in to the mound of bags waiting to be loaded onto the flight.

Working for Edelweiss Air, the pilot seemed to be in good spirits as he lifted the cases from the trolley onto the conveyer belt that took them inside the plane.

Posting the video online, one passenger joked how the pilot had a "can do attitude" as they waited to take off from Edinburgh, reports the Mirror.

The clip comes as hundreds of passengers across the UK have experienced different kinds of travel disruption as airlines have struggled to cope with the rise in demand.

Airports across the country have advised customers to allow for extra time to move through check-in and security queues, with many flights also facing cancellations.

Last week, the Mirror reported how easyJet passenger David Benjamin was left furious after his luggage appeared ripped to shreds, with his belongings inside damaged beyond repair.

And a couple who enjoyed a trip to Lanzarote to celebrate the imminent arrival of their first child were left fuming when their TUI flight home was cancelled.

The pair were first told the plane would be delayed by an hour when they arrived at Lanzarote's César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport.

Their wait quickly descended into chaos as stranded passengers started arguing with airline staff as it became clear they would not be flying home.

Chris said: "We're trying to get a refund from TUI but they are saying they don't recognise our booking reference.

"We also want reimbursement for the flights and taxis we had to book. I've lost complete faith in TUI."

The 63-year-old added: “The only way I can describe it is imagine putting a drill through fabric - it looks as though it has been torn and crushed."

"They obviously knew it was damaged because of the delay and how they laid it carefully on the front to hide it.

"Everything got crushed. The shorts on the top got completely mangled.

"No conveyor belt can do this sort of damage, to me it looks it has been caused by some sort of vehicle."

Edelweiss Air and Edinburgh Airport were contacted for comment.
