Eden Hazard snubs transfer as Chelsea told to complete 'next Kylian Mbappe' signing

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Wednesday, January 19.

Hazard snubs Newcastle

According to El Nacional, as cited by the Daily Mail, Eden Hazard has reportedly snubbed a move to Newcastle United despite the mega-rich Magpies seeing an offer of £33.4million, plus £8.3m in add-ons, accepted by Real Madrid.

Eddie Howe is desperate to strengthen his squad in a bid to escape relegation this season, and a move for Hazard was deemed possible, but the Belgian has seemingly put an end to those links.

Chelsea have regularly been linked with a sensational return for Hazard, who left the club to join Real Madrid but has struggled since joining the Spanish giants.

Chelsea told to complete 'next Kylian Mbappe' signing

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Newcastle target Hugo Ekitike.

Foot Mercato, via HITC, claim that Chelsea have made contact with a view to signing Ekitike in a deal that could reach €40m (£33.4m).

If Chelsea were to pull off the signing, they'd certainly be getting their money's worth - at least according to the player's coach, Oscar Garcia, who has hinted why Ekitike would be an excellent acquisition.

Speaking about Ekitike in November, Garcia told The Ligue 1 Show on beINSPORTS: "There is something very special about him.

"He's young, and he has the quality to become a very good player."

Tuchel's verdict on Chelsea draw

Chelsea's players are in desperate need of a rest according to manager Thomas Tuchel, who was asked whether that was the case after the Blues' 1-1 draw with Brighton.

"So, so badly. You can use the excuse but it is like this. Look at the schedule, when we arrived at Man City we had a Carabao Cup match and we arrive here and they had more time to prepare.

"We have played since November; we play and play and play. We need to recharge the batteries and disconnect. This is my feeling.

"We will use Friday and Saturday to prepare for Sunday against Tottenham."
