Transgender comedian and politician Eddie Izzard has given an update following her decision to change her name earlier this year to “Suzy”.
“I’m gonna be Suzy Eddie Izzard,” the 61-year-old announced during a recording of The Political Party podcast in March.
Opening up about her decision to be known by another moniker, she said: “I’ve wanted to be S, U, Z, Y since I was ten,” Izzard said in a wide-ranging Q&A with comedian Matt Forde. “That’s how I’m gonna roll so people can choose what they want, they can’t make a mistake, they can’t go wrong,” she said, joking that “I make mistakes with my own pronouns.”
Now the dust has settled a bit, she has decided to clarify both her chosen name and pronouns for those still confused.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, she wrote: “As people may now well know, I have added the name ‘Suzy’ to my names. So going forward I am preferring Suzy but I don’t mind Eddie. And I prefer she/her but I don’t mind he/him.

So going forward I am preferring Suzy but I don’t mind Eddie.
And I prefer she/her but I don’t mind he/him.
So no one can really get it wrong unless they call me Kenneth or Sabrina.

Adding: “I am remaining Eddie Izzard in public.”
Izzard, who is currently starring in an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations at The Garrick Theatre in the West End until July 1, signed off her messaging writing: “Thank you. Suzy/Eddie.”
