A detective investigating the gangland murder of Eddie Hutch has told how the probe into his death has been “long and complex.”
Speaking before a hearing of the inquest into the death of Mr Hutch, 58, at the Coroner's Court this morning, Detective Inspector Aidan Flanagan asked for an adjournment for a year due to the continuing criminal investigation.
Det Inspector Flanagan of Mountjoy Garda Station, said the investigation into the February 2016 murder has been “long” and “complex” and was “still ongoing”.

He stated that that is what has delayed the inquest from going forward to date - while asking for an adjournment for another 12 months.
The senior garda added that the family of Mr Hutch were supportive of this.
The matter was then adjourned until September 7 of next year.
Eddie “Neddie” Hutch was brutally gunned down at his own home in Poplar Row in Dublin’s North Inner City on February 8, 2016.
Eddie, who was a taxi driver by profession, is a brother of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch - a top target of the ruthless Kinahan cartel.
Gardai believe Eddie was murdered simply because he was a brother of their rival ‘The Monk.’
It was also considered to be an act of revenge for the killing of Kinahan associate David Byrne in the Regency Hotel in North Co Dublin just three days prior.
The death of David Byrne sparked a series of revenge killings by the Kinahan cartel - starting with the murder of Eddie Hutch.
The bloody Kinahan Hutch feud has claimed 18 lives to date.
