Eddie Howe on Bruno Guimaraes' Newcastle debut chances and Dan Burn injury doubt vs Everton

Eddie Howe says he is delighted with Newcastle United's business in the January window - but admits it could take time to integrate some of the new boys.

Howe has a doubt over centre-back Dan Burn while he hinted he may wait before handing Bruno a start at United.

Speaking about business in general, Howe said: "We're very pleased, we definitely ended the window stronger, as a team, as a squad.

"The beauty of what we've been able to do, and signing five players is a lot, but we are able to drip feed players into the team.

"So Kieran and Chris coming in quite early was a really good thing.

"It feels like we have strengthened the group rather than stabilised the team, which can be a dangerous thing when you bring five in at once.

"So hopefully we don't fall victim of that.

"I hope the team can keep its consistency and perform very well."

Newcastle were unable to add another striker to their ranks on deadline day.

Howe added: "We were always looking in different positions and the window was very difficult.

"Things changed in the last few days on a minute by minute basis.

"I can have no regrets or complaints the club have supported me and the team and tried to give us everything we needed to stay up.

"It wasn't perfect but I think we did the best we could given the circumstances."

When asked how quickly Newcastle fans would see some of the new signings, Howe said: "Every team you join there is a period of adjustment.

"Even if you have been at a Premier League club.

"The adjustment is bigger if you haven't been.

"So with Bruno we will have to assess him and make a decision on how quickly we transition him into the team.

"He is certainly someone we love and we can't wait to see him in a Newcastle shirt.

"I think he will bring some great quality to us, he has that composure and calmness we need.

"I am really pleased.

"As for the other guys, I can't wait to see them, again transition them into the team.

"I think they are experienced Premier League players.

"The only thing is Dan has a slight toe problem that has been aggravating him the last few days.

"Which hopefully is nothing too serious, small thing that can sometimes be a big thing."
