Eddie Howe insists there is no such thing as a "good time" to play Liverpool at Anfield. The Magpies will be the first team to square up to Jurgen Klopp's side since Liverpool hammered AFC Bournemouth 9-0 on Saturday afternoon in a record-equalling scoreline in the Premier League.
United carry the weight of history with them into this fixture after failing to win a top-flight fixture in 28 years at the venue, a run that includes the infamous 4-3 defeat to Liverpool in 1996 when Newcastle surrendered the title.
Looking ahead to the game, Howe said: "I don't know if there is a good time to play Liverpool. Man City and Liverpool were the leading lights of the division and the hardest teams to play against but we will look forward to it."

The fixture on Merseyside also saw former youth player Bobby Clark handed his first-team debut. Klopp will surely be tempted to give him more minutes against his former club.
Clark - the son of Toon legend Lee - admitted he was keen on marking the occasion with a goal. The 17-year-old said: "When they started going seven, eight, I was hoping I could get on and nick one myself! But obviously, that didn’t happen.
"Obviously, 9-0 speaks for itself, it was great to watch on the side."
