Eddie Howe has now confirmed that Martin Dubravka has been the subject of talks between Newcastle United and Manchester United. The Slovakia international is unsettled after the arrival of Nick Pope who has taken the number 1 spot at St James' Park.
Dubravka had not really done anything wrong to be dropped to number 2 but Howe's selection of Pope has been justified with two clean sheets from three and a good solid performance against Man City in a 3-3 draw.
Howe said: "He's not in talks with Man United but there has been contact with the clubs. Those will continue but I'm reluctant to lose him.

"It’s a decision that's out of my hands really."
Chronicle Live understands the deal could be a loan option with a clause to buy Dubravka at the end of the season.
The Toon shot-stopper has previously shown no desire to leave and has a contract until 2025.
