Eddie Hearn slams Conor McGregor claim after sitting beside UFC star at Katie Taylor fight

Eddie Hearn was not happy with Conor McGregor after the pair sat beside each other at Katie Taylor's homecoming with the UFC star upset with Garry Cully's matchmaking.

It was a disastrous night for Irish fighters with Dennis Hogan, Cully and Katie Taylor all losing.

Cully was odds-on favourites for his fight against Jose Felix Jr but was stopped in the third round to the shock of many.

And Hearn said that McGregor took exception to the matchmaking according to the promoter.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, Hearn said to host Ariel Helwani: "I just think that the hypocrisy of boxing is unbelievable. Everybody moans that the fights aren't tough enough and everybody moans that the challenges aren't big enough and then when a fighter gets beat it's like 'She shouldn't have taken that fight'.

"It's like when (Anthony Joshua) fought Usyk. If you want to keep him safe and avoid dangerous fights he should have vacated the belts. If you're in the sport for legacy and if you're a competitor this is what happens.

"The amount of people that said to me and Conor was one of them after the fight 'why did you put Gary Cully in with that guy'. That guy has lost three of the last four.

"If you are a world-class fighter you beat Jose Felix. Yes he's dangerous.

"For Katie Taylor it's like you are the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, yes she believed she could beat Chantelle Cameron but we got an unbelievable fight."
