Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Callum Smith will return to the ring in Liverpool in March.
The Matchroom chief has revealed that Smith is set to step back inside the ropes on March 11 at the M&S Bank Arena. The 32-year-old last fought back in August when he took out Mathieu Bauderlique to win an eliminator for the WBC light-heavyweight title on the Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua bill in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The bout in March will serve as a means to remain active for 'Mundo', while he awaits the winner of the clash between Artur Beterbiev and Anthony Yarde at the OVO Arena Wembley on January 28.

Joshua Buatsi is one name who has been mentioned as a possible opponent for the former Archbishop Beck pupil, who is expected to fight for the WBC crown in the summer.
“He will return March 11 in Liverpool, that much I can confirm,” Hearn told Boxing Scene. “He’s gonna be mandated to fight the winner of Beterbiev and Yarde.
“There is the talk of a Buatsi fight, possibly. Regardless, we want him in with a world-ranked top 15 fighter in Liverpool in March.
“We’ll see if it’s Buatsi next for Callum Smith. But what we do know, Callum is back at it March 11, and then— as long as he wins —onto the winner of Beterbiev-Yarde for all the marbles.”
