Eddie Hearn reveals Callum Smith Anfield world title fight hope after Bauderlique KO

Eddie Hearn has revealed he would like Callum Smith to fight at Anfield for the world light heavyweight title against Artur Beterbiev. It came after Smith knocked out Mathieu Bauderlique on Anthony Joshua's undercard in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.

Smith looked impressive against the Frenchman, who looked to throw bombs early on with Smith taking his time in the pocket and looking to simply outbox his opponent.

But with the Frenchman continuing to throw big shots, the Liverpudlian saw an opportunity and threw an excellent counter left to drop his opponent, before finishing him with a similar shot in the same round - getting the win in the fourth.

Hearn has named Anfield as the place for Smith to fight the undefeated Russian. Hearn said: "Beterbiev would be a shootout - I'd love to have that fight at Anfield."

Beterbiev is currently rehabbing from injury and will be out until 2023, when he's expected to face Brit Anthony Yarde, before a likely match-up with Smith.

Speaking after his win over Bauderlique, Smith said: "Good performance. It's been a long time out of the ring and good to get back regardless of where it is. I have a lot of good memories here and it puts me in line for a world title so good night all around.

"He engaged, he caught me a few times and I went head-hunting, Buddy was screaming to calm down. I think he's happy with the finish and we keep moving forward. He came out game, fair play to him, it was a bit of a shootout but regardless I was confident of my own ability. I want a world title that's all I want. I want to be a two-weight world champion. I just want to keep winning and at some point I will become a world champion."
