Eddie Hearn challenges talkSPORT host Simon Jordan to boxing fight

Promoter Eddie Hearn has challenged talkSPORT host Simon Jordan to enter the boxing ring as the beef between the pair continues.

Hearn was branded a 'coward' by Jordan over his handling of Conor Benn's failed drugs test and the subsequent postponement of his fight with Chris Eubank Jr. During a radio appearance, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan said: "Let's see if he has the courage and conviction to come on and listen to questions from people who can hold them."

Hearn did appear on talkSPORT - but swerved Jordan's show and instead answered questions on Benn's fight to clear his name from Laura Woods. Jordan suggested he had done so to avoid being interrogated and accused the Matchroom chief of "hiding behind legal issues".

But Hearn insisted he had not elected for a softer touch and aimed a dig at Jordan, stating: "He’s had a very brutal fall from grace, but he’s very good at his new job on the radio and I think he’s there to be controversial. I never have a problem answering his questions."

He then discussed the prospect of taking on the businessman, 12 years his senior in a boxing match.

“I think we should have a fight. I reckon he can’t fight at all, I can’t fight – I think it’d be unbelievable," Hearn told IFL TV at the weigh in for Katie Taylor's fight with Karen Carabajal.

Simon Jordan has criticised Hearn's handling of the affair (talkSPORT)

“We’ll do it for charity, then we’ll have a debate after. I’ve got a broken finger, but I’ll still fight.”

Hearn and Benn have denied any wrongdoing over the failed drugs test, with the British boxer vowing this week that he would clear his name.

It came after the British Boxing Board of Control announced he had relinquished his licence in the aftermath of the fight being postponed.
