Angry Ed Sheeran fans have reported two-hour waits for Tyne and Wear Metro trains after the singer's record breaking show at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Friday night.
However, other concert goers have praised the "brilliant" Metro staff and said there were "loads of trains". And a spokesperson for the Stadium of Light said 60,000 people had attended the concert - and that the show had "made history".
"Tonight has set a record for the highest-ever attended concert in the North East," they said on Twitter. "Sunderland, and Ed Sheeran - we made history tonight. What a crowd!"
The Metro service issued an apology on Twitter, after putting on extra trains - but adding that these trains were "likely to terminate in Newcastle".
At around midnight on Saturday morning, the Metro tweeted: "For customers currently waiting at Stadium of Light and St Peters, more services have now been added to the extra trains that were initially scheduled to run. Listen out for guidance as staff get customers onto trains safely & as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Then, at 12.24am, it tweeted: "We are seeing high volumes of people using Metro to travel home from Sunderland tonight. More trains will run however these trains are likely to terminate in Newcastle. We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause."
In a response to a tweet, the Metro said the last train would depart 12.43am. However, some fans vented their frustration on Twitter.
Frances Dale said she'd been waiting an hour an hour to get on a Metro train - and had been told it would be "at least another hour" before she was on one. "Metros seem to be far and few between," she added.
And Twitter user Monkeymagic fumed that the Metro service was "next to useless". "Still waiting more than two hours after it finished," they tweeted.
Michael Gilmour said: "My wife queued for a hour and a half. On one now at St Peters" In a separate tweet he called the service "shocking". However, he hoped things would better after Saturday night's show, adding: "We will see what happens tomorrow - it will be much better because they will look what they done wrong and what can they get better at."
However, Claire McIntyre said: "The metro staff were brilliant! Loads of trains, very well organised!! Thank you! Hope all the staff have an event free night!"
Meanwhile, Kaleigh Allsopp said there was a 25-minute wait between trains - but was critical of the way the event was organised, saying there were "lots of people crushed trying to get into standing part".
And Tony Nunn said that getting inside the Stadium of Light was "a complete shambles".
However, fans have praised the "amazing show" as being "different gravy" - but also advised people going tonight to "take a coat!"
