Ed Sheeran in Sunderland: Where you can park for the Stadium of Light gig

Ed Sheeran lands in the North East this weekend, for two sold-out shows at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. The pop superstar will take to the stage on Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4.

An additional gig was initially planned for Thursday, June 2, however the global sensation had to cancel the event due to a 'scheduling conflict'.

For those heading to the stadium to see the singer, we've compiled a handy guide including everything from set times to ticket prices here.

And while many Sunderland natives will be attending both gigs, the string of shows will also no doubt attract those from further afield to the normally quiet city by the sea. A number of whom will not be familiar where they can and can't park their car in a safe manner, avoiding nasty fines from traffic wardens to return to after a stunning show.

So here at Chronicle Live, we've compiled a number of places where attendees can securely store their vehicles for the duration - with a number of car parks within walking distance from the Stadium of Light.

The Park for Free after 3pm scheme is also available in Sunderland City Centre Monday-Friday year round.

METRO/PARK & RIDE -

The Tyne and Wear Metro Service have made travel tickets easily accessible ahead of the string of shows - with special day saver options available from Metro station machines. A number of extra services will also be put in place to allow trains to run more frequently, with later schedules also running to provide transport after the show.

As well as this, a park and ride scheme is available at Heworth, Fellgate and East Boldon's stations - allowing punters to park their cars before boarding the metro. However, additional charges may incur for parking.

DROP OFF & PICK UP -

Before the concert, those getting a lift into Sunderland can be dropped off on Wearmouth Street and Monk Street - situated in the retail park adjacent to the Stadium itself. Pick ups following the concert are advised to be made within the city centre itself, to avoid congestion predicted in the area.
