Ed Sheeran gig organisers have apologised after NHS workers' tickets to his Hampden show were cancelled hours before doors opened - and promised ticket holders they will see him next time.
Fans were left devastated after they were told their tickets to the sold-out Glasgow show were no longer valid with less than 24 hours notice.
Emergency services workers booked tickets using their Blue Light Card - a service for the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, and armed forces.
Concert promoter AEG has blamed an oversubscription of the complimentary tickets and told fans they will see Ed Sheeran next time he plays in Scotland.
An AEG spokesperson said: "Unforeseen logistical circumstances have unfortunately resulted in an oversubscription to a complimentary allocation of tickets for tonight’s show.
"This has meant some recipients have unfortunately had their tickets cancelled.
"We will ensure that those affected will be invited next time Ed plays in Scotland.
"Our customer relations team is currently dealing with all customers who’ve been affected, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused."
It is thought hundreds of ticket holders have been affected, with many of them left out of pocket after paying for travel and accommodation to attend the show.
Community psychiatric nurse Cat Allan, 42, was one of the music-lovers who was left gutted at the "ridiculous" way the situation has been handled after booking two tickets.
She told the Record: "I am annoyed and there are a lot of disappointed people.
"I booked two tickets using the blue light card but there were around 17 of us going in total. Everyone is either a NHS or frontline worker and we have all worked through Covid.
"It is terrible. They make it sound like they're going to give back to frontline staff and then they do this and cancel without even 24-hours notice.
"My daughter who was coming with me is only 15 so she understands but my friend's daughter is younger and absolutely devastated.
"It is okay disappointing us but to disappoint the kids who were so excited is not fair."
