Ed Sheeran surprised fans in Chicago over the weekend as he served up hotdogs at a Chicago spot known for “serving up high-quality street food with a side of insults”.
The Shape of You hitmaker is currently in the middle of the United States leg of his worldwide Mathematics tour, which has been running since April 2022.
And before his record-breaking gig in the Windy City, the 32-year-old rocked up to The Wieners Circle and served food to delighted fans on Saturday.
In a video shared on the restaurant’s Instagram, one of the eatery’s employees announced: “We’re gonna have Ed Sheeran here at the motherf***ing Wiener’s Circle and I’m gonna teach that w**ker how to make a f***ing hot dog.”
The same worker then continued with the friendly insults and asked Sheeran to “shut the f*** up” and “shove [a hotdog] up your a**” much to his amusement.
Captioning the post, The Wieners Circle wrote: “Our newest trainee @edsheeran has a lot to learn. He’s way too proper and friendly.”
Sharing a clip from his experience, Sheeran opted to refrain from launching into an expletive-filled post, simply captioning it: “Served hot dogs at @wienerscircle today.
“This place is legendary [in] Chicago for serving hotdogs and insulting their customers. I loved it. See you at the stadium tonight x.”
Last weekend, Sheeran played shows at the Chicago Theatre and Soldier Field, where he broke the all-time attendance record with 73,000 concert-goers.
When hosting sporting events, the stadium’s capacity is 67,000.
On Twitter, now known as X, the official account for the venue tweeted a message that the BRIT winner had given to his fans, thanking them for coming to see him.
“Chicago! We’ve broken the ticket record for tonight,” he told the crowd.
“This is the largest concert that’s ever been here. There’s 73,000 of you here tonight! Thank you so much for giving me your Saturday night.”
