Economic development and revitalization are becoming a priority in southeastern Kentucky. FOCUS is a nonprofit organization that works with industry, business, and government officials to improve the economic development of its five-county region.
The Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors hired Tal Jones as the new development director for FOCUS last year. Jones said his role is clear.
“To represent those five counties in soliciting new business, expanding current, existing businesses, and retaining existing businesses.”
He said southeastern Kentucky has a lot to offer.
“We have unrivaled broadband, we have affordable power, we have a great proximity to highway I-75, we have a very sustainable advanced manufacturing community in the Annville, Jackson County area, just a great quality of life for the people that work there.”
The five counties in FOCUS’ service area include Jackson, Clay, Owsley, Lee, and Leslie Counties. Hear more with FOCUS Economic Development Director Tal Jones later this week on Eastern Standard, on WEKU.
