Eberechi Eze reacts on Instagram after Arsenal fans spot homage to WWE legend with new goal celebration

Arsenal supporters have been saying the same thing about Eberechi Eze paying homage to WWE legend Booker T during the north London derby win over Tottenham.

Eze was somewhat of a surprise inclusion in the Arsenal line-up on Sunday, having started just once in the Premier League prior since the 2-1 win against Wolves on December 13.

The attacking midfielder would ultimately repay Mikel Arteta’s faith by scoring twice as the Gunners ended the weekend five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

Eze broke the deadlock just after the hour mark with an improvised finish from inside the area following fine work by Bukayo Saka.

While his celebrations for that goal were largely muted, eagle-eyed Arsenal fans on social media noticed what Eze did after putting the visitors 3-1 up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Off balance after punishing more slack defending from Spurs, Eze decided to perform the ‘Spinaroonie’ before getting back to his feet and celebrating his second goal of the afternoon with team-mates and the travelling supporters.

The ‘Spinaroonie’ is a signature gesture made famous by Booker T during his time in WCW and later, WWE.

Despite not quite executing the move smoothly, it left Arsenal fans pointing out that Eze had heard previous jokes regarding comparisons with the wrestling legend.

Eze’s brace at the weekend means he has now scored five goals in two appearances against the club he almost signed for during the summer transfer window.

Taking to Instagram, Eze included a video of the aforementioned ‘Spinaroonie’ being performed by Booker T on the final slide of his post, thus confirming the inspiration for his goal celebration.

“They're not simple!” he told Sky Sports. "But I'm always trying to get in those positions to find the space, to work hard and get those opportunities. It takes a long way to go there.

“Today it's worked out, thank God for it. We put in a good performance, we did what we needed to do today which was the main thing.

“We know what we're capable of. We know what we can do. We have to play games to dominate and win, we have the players in the team to do it. An important win and performance."
