Calls for the return of a popular Government food scheme have been made, with Rishi Sunak set to take his new position as Prime Minister in Downing Street.
'Eat Out to Help Out' was introduced by Sunak initially in the peak of the global Coronavirus pandemic, as a means of breathing life into the UK's economy - which took a substantial hit due to national lockdowns and restrictions put into place.
Running from August 3 until August 31 2020 - the public were invited to claim a 50 per cent discount on food and non-alcoholic drinks while eating out at certain establishments - up to a maximum price of £10 discount per diner.

Sunak's scheme was available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - with punters able to make the most of the offer as many times as they liked. However, due to its timing it received a large backlash, with Coronavirus levels still rife across the United Kingdom.
Now, in a time with vaccinations having been rolled out worldwide, and restrictions and guidance practically abolished, the Eat Out to Help Out scheme would be a very exciting prospect - considering the ongoing cost of living crisis and battered UK economy.
And as Sunak has all but won the Tory Leadership Race, with final competitor Penny Mordaunt withdrawing completely, many Britons are calling for the new leader to bring back the scheme. The five word slogan has began trending on Twitter since the news of his new role broke.
One Twitter user, wrote: "Now that we’re outside, we need Eat Out to Help out. First order of business, please Sunak," while a second, added: "I saw Eat Out to Help Out trending, and I got excited."
A third, echoed: "I need that eat out to help out," while a fourth, chimed in: "Your reminder that Eat Out To Help Out reduced inflation from 0.6% to 0.2%. To fight inflation it is imperative the new Prime Minister brings back 50% off discounts in time for my birthday."
However, others used the opportunity to remind people how the previous scheme was launched in poor timing, with some claiming that the plan helped breed Covid-19 across the UK.
One user, said: "A timely image to remind us all that Rishi was part of the party that voted against feeding children and had to be shamed into doing ANYTHING by Marcus Rashford. And that he was the brainbox who came up with Eat Out to Help Out leading to another wave of Covid."
Another, added: "We have to remember his disastrous budgets as Chancellor and the destructive Eat Out To Help Out scheme during the pandemic. I hope he will call a #GeneralElectionNow because people need to have a say and vote for their future," while a third, continued: "So the man responsible for the "eat out to help out" scheme which resulted in thousands of deaths to covid is now in charge of the country. What could possibly go wrong? #RishiSunak."
