EasyJet passengers hit by long delays as 200 flights grounded

Holidaymakers hoping to get away have been hit by long delays. As many as 200 flights are deemed to be affected.

Hundreds of EasyJet flights were delayed after a massive IT failure. The tech failure saw flights delayed amid huge queues at airports nationwide, reports Birmingham Live.

The airline has spoken out to apologise to travellers. A spokeswoman for EasyJet said: “Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing IT systems issues which means that flights due to depart between 13:00 and 15:00 UK time today may be impacted.

"Our team of IT specialists is working to restore the systems as soon as possible. We advise customers due to travel with us today to continue to check Flight Tracker to check the status of their flight before making their way to the airport.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to thank customers for their patience as we work to resolve this as soon as possible.” Earlier this week, a spokesman for Gatwick Airport apologised to a user on Twitter who described their experience as "horrible" and "grim".

The spokesman tweeted: "Hi, we're really sorry for any delay. We are operating a moving queue system and staff are working hard to process passengers as quickly as possible through Security Search."

Just two London Gatwick flights were unaffected by the failure.
