Eastern Airways launched its Summer 2023 flight programme at its home base of Humberside Airport on Friday, with drizzle and a chill dominating northern Lincolnshire. The first flight to Newquay took off, with up to four services a week being operated to Cornwall through to September.
Saturday flights to Jersey follow from May 13, with the Channel Islands destination adding to the year-round Aberdeen service now operated continuously for 25 years, and the recent Esbjerg addition. This growing Kirmington-based network means Eastern has more routes operating from within site of the airport HQ than any previous year.

Roger Hage, commercial director, said: “Given the UK staycation growth remains a preference for many; we are welcoming back the Newquay-Cornwall service which complements our East-Midlands and London-Gatwick services to Cornwall with an expanded frequency for this year.
“We have also extended the length of operating season to the popular Channel Island destination of Jersey while continuing to grow the Esbjerg and Aberdeen offer, in what will be a busy 2023 from Humberside Airport.

Given Eastern Airways is all about supporting the regions of the UK, connecting people and places, growing capacity will offer a welcome UK break destination from Humberside and a crucial part of increasing connectivity and aiding economic recovery where sustainable.”
Esbjerg offers the original Billund Legoland within an hour’s transfer, as well as being the global epicentre of offshore wind for business. Aberdeen also opens up the Scottish Highlands, alongside the oil and gas industry.
Deborah Zost, managing director at Humberside Airport said: “The return of the service to Cornwall Newquay Airport, now operating up to four times a week with Eastern Airways, is fantastic news for holidaymakers wishing to enjoy the beautiful region of Cornwall. In addition, Eastern Airways operates routes to Aberdeen, Esbjerg and Jersey, enabling both leisure and business travellers to fly from their local airport.”
Eastern will operate the services on a mix of 72-seat ATR and BAE Jetstream 41 aircraft, offering one of the lowest fuel-burn and emissions per seat in the market.
