He was one of EastEnders biggest bad boys - and two decades on from leaving Walford behind, he still has the hard man stare that left viewers floored.
But Craig Fairbrass looks worlds away from the fresh-faced criminal who looked like he was carved out of solid oak.
The Walford heartbreaker was 34-years-old when he first appeared on EastEnders in June 1999.
Playing "Dirty" Dan Sullivan, the love rat who cheated on Carol Jackson with her daughter Bianca, he was never far from trouble.
He may have only hung around for two years but he left a mess behind after run-ins with Phil Mitchell and Steve Owen.
As one of those pointed the finger at in the infamous 'Who Shot Phil' plot line, his departure left a hole as he ended up where so many characters do - somewhere in Spain never to be seen again.
Craig is now 58 and has made almost 40 British and US films since leaving.
He has also appeared on US TV shows The Unit, Soldier Of Fortune and The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
He spoke to the Daily Express about his time on the BBC soap and what he's been doing since.
“This is the ficklest business there is, you have to keep moving," he said.
"You get knocked back and you get up again. It’s about taking chances and having belief in yourself.
“It’s not easy, so many good actors aren’t acting anymore. I’ve had a career in films and I’m grateful, but there were dark times.
"After EastEnders, I didn’t work for eight months and then I thought ‘I’ve got to do what I did before, get on a plane and fly to LA'.”
"My dad was a docker, my mum was a machinist, and they were very supportive.
"To be honest it’s been a long, brutal journey, one step forward, two steps backwards but you have to keep thinking positive."
He’s also appeared in Hijacked and played Pat Tate in the Rise of the Footsoldier film series.
“I’m doing what I set out to do as a young man, but I still crave more. The hardest thing is to find a quality script.
"It’s got to be gripping. I look for scripts with more substance, some heart, and good stories.”
