EastEnders started on Tuesday 19th February 1985 on BBC1 and will celebrate its 37th anniversary soon.
The votes were cast quickly for a number of Walford’s leading ladies, My London reports.
While Stacey Slater and Sam Mitchell were very popular, they did not secure first place.
The character Sharon Watts won the top spot with 46 percent of the total votes.
Portrayed by Letitia Dean, she made her first appearance on EastEnders in February 1985.
Viewers on the forum gave their reasons for their votes, with one saying: “Will always be Sharon for me but Sam is a close second at the moment.”
Another user typed: “Will always be Queen Shazza. Stacey will always be my favourite character tho… I adore Lacey. She smashes every storyline and is a huge talent.”
While a third said: “I'm going to make something outa nothing and voted Sharon. Just for her longevity and iconic status.”
In second place is Stacey Slater, who is played by fan-favourite Lacey Turner.
One fan said: “THE Queen of Walford is Sharon. MY Queen is Stacey.”
Kathy Beale was also nominated for the Queen of Walford title.
One fan said: “Queen Kathleen, always,” whilst another said: “Struggled between Kat and Sharon! I actually want more scenes between the two of them. I loved their interactions right before Keanu’s return.”
Sonia Fowler played by Natalie Cassidy was also mentioned by EastEnders fans.
One viewer who voted for her said: “I could have chosen Sharon who I think has been redeemed since the carbonara catastrophe. However I've opted for Sonia as Natalie Cassidy has been on fire recently.”
However, some viewers weren’t too happy that one character couldn’t get voted.
They said: “Where is Vi on here!!!!! I would say Linda at the moment but Sharon will always be the Queen of Walford to me.”
Sam Mitchell barely received any votes, despite being the sister of infamous bad boy Phil Mitchell.
One person said: "Sam for me, she is fantastic and can really make scenes with anyone enjoyable."
