EastEnders will revisit Mick Carter and Janine Butcher's exits next week, months on from a tragic death.
Mick was seemingly killed off after a showdown with Janine, with him currently presumed drowned and lost at sea.
Janine was arrested for covering up a crime she committed last year after pinning it on Linda Carter, as she finally faced justice after months of destroying love rival Linda's life.
The Carters finally found out in December that she had caused the crash that almost killed Linda and her young daughter Annie, with Janine making it seem as though Linda had driven while under the influence of alcohol.
Linda faced trouble with the law and faced losing custody of Annie over the crime she did not commit, and Janine was keen for this to happen.
Janine has been in prison ever since her Boxing Day arrest, while Linda is struggling to adapt to a life without Mick who is believed to be dead.
Recent scenes saw Linda struggling after learning Mick's new wife Janine was determined to sell his share of the pub, with Linda currently trying to find a buyer.
Asides this Linda has not had contact with the villain, and is awaiting to find out if she will face justice over Mick's death and the earlier crash.
Next week, Linda is nervous as she waits for Janine's plea and fears it will go to trial.
Linda later gets an update on Janine, but will Janine do the right thing or can we expect a looming return for the character as her case heads to court?
It comes as Mick actor Danny Dyer recently spoke about his departure and his "odd" exit scenes - while also suggesting he could return.
Speaking to The Times, the actor explained how he would have liked his character to bow out of the soap, and why bosses were against it.
Danny spilled: "I felt that to go on a journey with Mick, who doesn’t open up properly to anyone, and feels shame and all that stuff, to have it end tragically, that would have opened debate and got the nation talking."
Mick had battled with depression and contemplated taking his own life two years earlier on the soap, after it emerged he had been sexually abused as a child.
His abuser, Katy, fell pregnant with his child and Mick was introduced to her in 2020 when the whole truth came out.
Danny wanted to explore a mental health storyline again to encourage men to speak out, and wanted Mick to take his own life.
Show bosses didn't want to go ahead with the plot as they said it would "trigger" viewers, and instead they chose a dramatic showdown to see the character bow out.
Danny also addressed whether Mick could return some day, but admitted he found his exit scenes "odd".
He said: "Anything is possible. Where would he have gone to? He can’t swim. I found it a bit odd."
On his decision to leave the show after nine years, he added: "One reason I left EastEnders was because I wasn’t around enough. You’ve got to try and get in there early with your holiday, because otherwise they give you a holiday in February, and who wants to go on holiday in February?”
