James Bye has explained how his Strictly Come Dancing spray tan will be written into EastEnders.
The Martin Fowler actor is starring on the current 20th series of the BBC One soap, partnered with Amy Dowden as he dazzles viewers with his dance techniques. Despite his new Strictly stint, James has still been busy filming on EastEnders.
During last week's show, Amy even headed down to set to see James at work, as he admitted he had a very busy work schedule at the moment. However, he has revealed he has devised a way to explain his fake tan in his scenes as Martin.
However, whilst James' fans will no doubt know when he suddenly looks a lot more bronzed, the change in appearance will need to be referenced in the soap for continuity purposes and James has shared the way he plans to reference it in the script.
"I've just put a line in that I've been down to the beach for the weekend. I can't not have a spray tan, you're on Strictly , you've got to have a spray tan whether you like it or not," he told the Express of his idea to explain Martin's new look.
James explained how bosses have been trying to help reduce his hectic filming schedule amid Strictly rehearsals.
"I have been getting two hours of training in the morning and sometimes another two in the evening," he added, "I have a quick chat with Victoria and go to bed. As soon as my body hits the pillow I am out. Hopefully next week or the week after it will lighten."
James have also revealed he has been relying on advice and support from his EastEnders co-star Rose Ayling Ellis, who won the show last year with her professional partner Giovanni Pernice.
"Rose is like a ray of sunshine. Her advice has been to take everything in. Even though she was there until the end of Strictly she said it went so quickly – so she told me to make sure I enjoy every moment and don’t waste time," he shared.
Another thing they might have to explain on EastEnders is Martin's trimmer figure, as he admitted he has lost some weight.
"I have definitely lost some weight and I feel much fitter. I wouldn’t say Victoria was impressed with my body, that’s a big word. But I have to say she’s definitely noticed the difference since I’ve been doing Strictly," he shared.
