EastEnders spoilers: Lola suffers more heartbreak as Lexi hopeful mum can be saved

EastEnders resident Lola Pearce is set for more heartbreak, as daughter Lexi struggles to accept the reality of her mum's diagnosis.

Lola - played by Danielle Harold - has been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, and the whole family have been supporting Lola as she tries to tell Lexi (Isabella Brown) about the future and what it means for them as a family.

Ben Mitchell ( Max Bowden ) and Jay Brown ( Jamie Borthwick ) sat alongside Lola and Lexi as she told her she won't be able to get better and that she can't ever be cured, leaving Lexi devastated and angry by the diagnosis.

However, next week it looks like there's more heartbreak in store for the family as Lexi is clearly struggling with the reality of her mum's diagnosis. Lola is keen to push forward with her fundraising event but it causes an argument with Ben.

He is desperate for Lola to prioritise their daughter, but the mum is dealt a cruel emotional blow when she realises Lexi is convinced her mum will get better and they will be able to live many more happy years together.

Just weeks ago, a flash-forward clip for the soap's special Christmas Day episode appeared to reveal the character dies this year, and will pass away before Christmas and now it seems she is deteriorating as she suffered with new symptoms.

In a recent episode, Lola began zoning out as daughter Lexi spoke to her, with Lexi struggling to wake her from the trance-like state.

Viewers were alarmed over the scenes, with many believing this was the beginning of Lola's health declining ahead of her death.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Lexi seeing Lola Zoned out and thinking she is dead my heart is breaking," as another fan tweeted about the scenes: "Poor Lola the end is coming nearer." A third viewer wrote: "Very sad to watch her go her body is shutting down."

"This breaks my heart," a fourth wrote as a fifth posted: "This was so heart wrenching to watch."

Danielle previously explained how grateful she is to be trusted with such a huge storyline.

She said: "It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts. Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heart-breaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories. They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them."
