EastEnders viewers believe two characters could be about to return to the BBC soap, following the news an iconic character is heading back to Walford despite dying over 20 years ago.
Cindy Beale will return to Walford after 25 years, despite having been killed off in prison during childbirth offscreen in 1998.
In a shocking new twist that was meant to be kept secret until transmission, Ian Beale will head back to Albert Square after a two-year absence but he won't be alone.
He and his ex-wife, who split after she cheated on him and also tried to have him killed, will make a shocking return to the BBC soap later this year.
Michelle Collins is reprising her role on the show after decades away, while Adam Woodyatt will finally return as Ian following a brief comeback in December.
The details surrounding their return and how Ian and Cindy have met again have yet to be revealed.
There will be plenty of questions given Cindy 'died' so long ago, and there's been no suggestion until now that this was a fake death.
So where has Cindy been all this time and why did she lie about her demise? Also, why would Ian be with Cindy when she tried to kill him?
There's plenty of questions needing to be answered, but fans are already predicting that the return of Cindy and Ian will lead to at least two more comebacks.
Currently, Ian's mother Kathy Beale and son Bobby Beale are his only relatives in Walford, with his and Cindy's son Peter Beale leaving again last year.
Cindy's daughter Cindy Jr is currently away from Walford with her boyfriend Liam Butcher and her daughter Beth.
Cindy Sr was said to have died while giving birth to her daughter in prison, something that has often been referenced on the BBC soap.
During Michelle's time away, two of her her character's children have been killed off on the soap - Lucy in 2014 in a murder whodunnit, and Steven in 2017 in a fire, while he was actually attacked by Max Branning.
Now, fans are tipping Cindy Jr and Peter to both return to the show to confront their mother for faking her death.
Taking to Twitter, fans confessed they believed more characters would be heading back to the show in the fallout to both Ian and Cindy's arrival.
One viewer asked: "If this is legit, does this mean that Cindy JR and Peter Beale could come back too for a family reunion?"
Another tweeted: "Bring back Cindy Jr and Peter NOW," as a third fan added: "This could be good to build up the beales and butchers if cindy jnr returns with liam and her daughter. Obvs I'm glad Ian is returning he's been missed."
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
