EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy was left red-faced as she shared a hilarious birthday blunder after turning 4 0.
The soap icon recently celebrated hitting the birthday milestone, but was blindsided when she opened a card from a well-meaning pal.
In a video posted on Instagram, Natalie told her 276,000 followers she had received birthday wishes from her sister-in-law’s friend, but the card read “Happy 50th”, much to the star’s dismay.
“So a lot of you might know I turned 40 at the weekend. It was very very good, I've had an amazing, amazing time with all my nearest and dearest,” she began.
“I can't thank everybody enough, they know that anyway. But I wanted to show you this because this really topped it off. I mean when I opened the Happy 50th [card], I did think, well I don't know what I thought,” Natalie continued, as she held up the card to the camera.
“But it was from my sister-in-law's lovely friend Sal. So Sally, you made it, you made it my best best card of the weekend. And I shall be putting it away and whacking it up in ten years,” Natalie joked.
She quipped: “Mind you. you'll probably send a 60 one then. But yeah, I really appreciated it. You must have thought I looked very, very young for 50 lets be honest. Cheers.”
Some of her quick-thinking followers suggested she save Sally some money and keep the offending card until her 50th birthday.
“It'll fly by! Keep hold of it and save Sal some money. Ps Happy birthday,” the fan wrote, with one adding: “What has Sally have to say about this?”
While one commented on Natalie’s age-defying looks: “You don't look 50 at all, you look so much younger love.”
The star, who has played Sonia on the long-running BBC soap on and off since 1993, marked turning 40 with a huge birthday bash, and was surrounded by family and friends, including her EastEnders co-stars Jessie Wallace, Lacey Turner, and Dean Gaffney.
“So I’m 40. What a weekend. Filled with all my favourite human beings,” Natalie captioned a photo of her posing with boyfriend Marc, alongside her two daughters.
“Music, laughter, dancing and wine. Beautiful gifts. A special poem. I feel very loved, very lucky and I can’t wait to enjoy my next decade. Thank you to everyone. You know who you are,” she added.
