Linda Carter's family got some devastating news about her health on tonight's episode of EastEnders.
Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and the rest of her family - including daughter Nancy Carter (Maddy Hill) - have been waiting anxiously to hear how Linda's surgery went after the horrifying car crash which left her in a coma.
Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) was actually responsible for the crash but in a devastating twist, she blamed Linda for what happened, moving her to the driver's seat, and even emptying a bottle of alcohol all over the car to make it seem like Linda had been drinking and that was what led her to crashing the car into a tree.
During tonight's show, a doctor came into see the family and whilst they revealed that Linda was "stable", they admitted that the injury had been worse than they thought and it could mean she would be permanently affected by memory loss.
"Linda is stable. However, the trauma to the brain is worse than we thought. There's no way of knowing what state she'll be in until she comes around. She might not remember the crash, or the hours, days, months even leading up to it," he shared.
"I don't mean to alarm you - but you need to prepare yourself, she may no longer be the Linda you know. There isn't anything I can tell you at the moment, I'm sorry, but I'll keep you informed. You may be better off waiting for news at home."
Nancy was horrified by the news and as the doctor left to let them talk amongst themselves, she broke down in tears as she said: "I can't believe she's done this. First she puts Annie's life at risk and now she might not be the Linda we know.
"I honestly thought she had turned a corner, or I wouldn't have walked off. She did this once before dropping Ollie off at school; she was so ashamed. She tried to hide it from Dad, I honestly didn't think she'd be stupid enough to do it again. She wouldn't. I feel like something else must have happened - like something really bad."
Now fans of the BBC One soap are predicting that Janine will get away with her lies.
"Omg Linda might have amnesia and Janine is gonna get away with it all!! # EastEnders," one fan wrote, as a second added: "damn i wonder if linda will have memory loss then #Eastenders."
A third penned: "Janine is celebrating internally at Linda’s potential memory loss #EastEnders," with a fourth writing: "Linda better wake up from her coma & not have memory loss! #eastenders."
