EastEnders' Kim Medcalf teases character Sam is set to clash with Sharon, Kat and Denise

Sam Mitchell is set to return to Albert Square and it sounds like she will do so with a bang.

Actress Kim Medcalf - who took over playing the character from Danniella Westbrook - will return to EastEnders but it's apparent not everyone is pleased to see her in the latest first-look scenes.

On Sam's return, long-time residents Sharon (Letitia Dean), Kat ( Jessie Wallace ) and Denise (Diane Parish) had faces like thunder.

Sharon shockingly swills Sam with a glass of wine after Phil's sister reveals exactly why she has decided to return to Walford.

And Kim has teased that more fiery scenes are on the way in the coming months as she opened up on her character's relationship with Sharon.

Metro reports she said: "Sharon’s clearly so loyal to Phil and they have a special relationship. There is a lot of feistiness between Sharon and Sam and when you throw Kat into the mix too it’s very explosive.

"I think the audience are going to love this dynamic. It’s been such great fun to play alongside Letitia and Jessie, there really are some brilliant scenes coming up."

Kim added: "I really love working with Jessie and Letitia because they are so warm and funny and just honestly so easy to work with. Everyone goes for it, and we all help each other. We do the scenes and it’s a great atmosphere."

Of course, outspoken Sam is also set to ruffle feathers elsewhere too.

The blonde beauty is ready and waiting to clash with Denise and Jack (Scott Maslen). Last time in Walford, Sam left son Ricky in the care of Jack.

Denise now acts as Ricky's mother figure, so she is far from impressed by Sam's decision to return to his life.

Kim continued: "We’ve had some quite fun scenes where we really go at each other. Almost like who can have the last line in every scene, especially with Denise!"

She added that both characters have times feeling like they're winning and both believe they are doing what's right for Ricky.

She admits Sam's edgy approach comes from a good place and not just to be nasty. However, it doesn't always come across that way.

Like her positive comments towards Jessie and Letitia, Kim lavished Diane with praise and said there are a number of "strong amazing women" working on the show.
