Lola Pearce may lose her battle with cancer sooner than EastEnders fans had hoped with the actress seemingly dropping a huge hint on her character's fate with a cryptic Instagram post.
EastEnders fans have been left fearing the worst over an image posted by the BBC soap star on Wednesday.
Danielle Harold has starred as fan favourite Lola since 2011 but will leave Walford at some point this year in heartbreaking scenes after battling a terminal brain tumour.
The soap actress sparked a fan frenzy when she posted a selfie on Instagram with her co-stars and on-screen family Emma Barton, who plays Honey Mitchell, Perry Fenwick, who stars as Lola's grandad and Lola's on-screen husband Jamie Borthwick.
The four actors took the joyful selfie outside No. 1 Albert Square but their all-black attire worried fans with both Perry and Jamie wearing black suits while Emma and Danielle also sported sombre outfits.
One fan wrote: "Nooooo does this mean your ending has been filmed. That's gonna be a hard one to watch x," while a second asked: "Lola’s funeral scenes?"
A third confessed: "No way I can’t believe they have filmed her ending already I don’t think I’m ready."
Fans spotted the Christmas wreath hanging on the door of No. 1 and jumped to the conclusion that EastEnders are preparing to film Danielle's final scenes.
EastEnders fans will remember in the recent flash-forward cliffhanger Linda Carter, Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Kaur were seen standing over a dead body in the Queen Vic.
During the scene, a picture of Lola was spotted on the bar, suggesting that the mum-of-one will have tragically died before Christmas Day.
However, other EastEnders argued that Danielle's Instagram snap could have been taken on the Dot Cotton's funeral was filmed, in honour of late actress and BBC soap icon June Brown.
"Throw back pic I’d say Dot's funeral back in December," one wrote as another agreed: "Guys it’s not Lola’s death they’ve filmed here it’s from Dot's funeral I think. There’s a wreath on the door in the background."
