EastEnders fans 'in floods of tears' at The Carters' heartbreaking grief as Tina's body found

EastEnders fans have been left tearful as The Carters finally learnt Tina Carter’s body has been discovered by police after her murder at the hands of evil Gray Atkins.

The emotional episode on Friday is set to send shockwaves through Albert Square and kick off an emotional rollercoaster of a week on the soap.

It's been over a year since Tina Carter went missing, with her family assuming that she had run away to escape being prosecuted for the attack on Ian Beale.

While the Carters are unaware of who murdered Tina, viewers have known all along that Gray brutally killed her after she discovered that he killed his wife Chantelle.

Since then, Gray has gone on to kill Kush Kazemi, attempted to kill his children and Whitney Dean, and abuse his current wife Chelsea.

But fans saw as Mick and Shirley were left utterly devastated when DCI Arthurs arrived on their doorstep and revealed that Tina's body had been found in the Argee Bhajee.

Their world was turned upside down and the family were left reeling from the news that Tina is dead, but Shirley became determined to find out the truth.

Shirley told the police officers that Gray had inexplicably said that he saw her sister Tina a few months ago on a bus.

She also explained that Tina had withdrawn money from her bank account following her disappearance, giving the family hope that she could return.

As BBC viewers watched the unfolding Carter heartbreak, many took to Twitter to commend actors Danny Dyer and Linda Henry, who play Mick and Shirley, on their performances in the emotional scenes.

One wrote: "Part 2 had me crying with the Carters, it even pained me before they found out when Shirley and Mick would long for her to come home."

Another tweeted: "Literally was crying with Shirley & Mick on EastEnders this evening"

Another social media user posted: "That’s got to be one of the best scenes shared between Mick and Shirley in very long. The emotion and dialogue - truly beautifully written - and yet still a week’s worth of karma to serve. Bring it on!"

A fellow fan wrote: "The Mick and Shirley scenes tonight were heartbreaking" as another posted: "Seeing Shirley and Mick like this is dreadful :("

This comes amid a tense and violent showdown between Kheerat Panesar and Gray on the soap, after Kheerat worried that he might be getting in too deep with the murderer.

Despite Whitney's advice to stay away, Kheerat thought that he could finally get Gray to admit the truth about Chantelle's death and rushed to meet him when Gray rang him in desperation.

But after talking to Gray's wife Chelsea, Whitney realised that Kheerat had been set-up by Gray and was heading into a trap.

Meanwhile, the two came to blows before a shocking end to the soap as Kheerat hit Gray over the head with a bottle, leaving him lying lifeless on the floor.

Unsure whether Gray is alive or dead, a panicked Kheerat makes a plan to flee Walford - but could he leave just as the truth of Gray comes out?
