EastEnders viewers were treated to another surprise return of a character after jaws dropped at home on Monday when Ian Beale graced BBC One screens.
The BBC soap stunned viewers when actor Adam Woodyatt secretly reprised his role during the emotional tribute to June Brown at her character Dot Cotton’s funeral.
Fans of the BBC soap were given another surprise return on Tuesday evening when Keanu Taylor walked back into Walford after almost three years away.
The character, played by actor Danny Walters, was driven away from Albert Square in previous scenes but has now said he is returning to EastEnders for a fresh stint.
His surprise return left fans once again floored, as one wrote on Twitter : “Keanu !!!!!!!!!!!! Is he back for Sharon ???’ Wow! Loving these surprises! Another cracking Eastenders.”
A second said: “OMG Keanu’s back.”
Another added: “Ooh Keanu back, that’s a much better surprise than the return of Ian Beale.”
Actor Danny Walters has now reportedly signed up for a full-time return to Albert Square, as his character plans to reunite with his Sharon Watts, who he infamous had an affair with in years gone by.
He told The Sun : “When I got the call and he told me about the storylines, [EastEnders boss Chris] was teasing some – he’s not told me them all yet – his vision is incredible.
“So when I heard what he wanted Keanu to do I couldn’t help but want to come back.
“And I feel very privileged to come back on such an iconic episode. The way I play him moving forwards it is a new type of character, it is exciting.”
It comes after EastEnders fans were left stunned on Monday evening as Ian Beale made a surprise appearance as Dot Cotton was laid to rest in Walford.
BBC viewers heard the soap legend's voice one last time as a recording of the late June Brown before a sombre scene on Albert Square when Dot’s coffin travelled through the soap set on a horse-drawn carriage hearse.
The residents of Walford were seen clad in black with heads downcast on a heartbreaking day as they walked past the infamous Queen Victoria pub.
Yet the biggest surprise of the episode came moments before the funeral when the BBC One camera panned to a hidden Ian Beale in the trees by the church.
The long-serving mainstay, played by Adam Woodyatt, was last seen almost two years ago but watched as Dot’s coffin was taken into the church, staying out of sight from his fellow mourners.
