EastEnders fans floored as Amy Mitchell appears on BBC soap 'with new head'

EastEnders fans were left puzzled on Tuesday as Amy Mitchell appeared on the BBC soap, but looked significantly different.

The daughter of the late Roxy Mitchell and Jack Branning made a surprise appearance on EastEnders during a double billing extended episode of the BBC soap.

While actress Abbie Burke has played the character for the last eight years, the role has now been taken over by Silent Witness star Ellie Dadd, who made her debut on Tuesday’s episode.

The part of Amy Mitchell was previously played by Amelie Conway in 2014, before her character was recast with Abbie, who was last seen in Walford in June.

Kim Fox marked older Amy's debut to viewers as she screamed her name to introduce her to Howie’s son Denzel – who Amy seemed keen to impress.

Fans were all left saying the same thing as Amy appeared on screens, having apparently aged almost overnight.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "A new Amy Mitchell recast!” as another said: "Amy Mitchell Branning has a new head."

Another added: "AMY????? AMY MITCHELL????? THATS NOT AMY AT ALL."

This comes after newcomer Ellie was spotted filming with Jade Goody ’s son Bobby Brazier ahead of his EastEnders debut.

Bobby, who is the eldest son of TV presenter Jeff Brazier, 43, and the late Jade Goody, was unveiled as a new face in Albert Square, as he prepares to play the recast role of Little Mo's son Freddie on the BBC soap.

The 19-year-old was photographed with Ellie on Tuesday and the pair enjoyed an impromptu dance as they filmed scenes set to air this autumn.

Bosses have teased that Freddie will cause quite the drama when he turns up on Albert Square, describing him as a "modern day lad" with a "sensitive soul" - but also promising "chaos and mischief" too.

Following his career announcement, Bobby released a statement on Instagram, admitting that he feels 'blessed' to have been cast as Little Mo's son, Freddie, on Albert Square.

Bobby said 'so far it’s been perfect' and described his venture into the soap world as 'a blessing' when sharing his career news on Instagram.

Bobby said: “I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders - so far it’s been perfect. Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped."

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One
