EastEnders' dying Lola drops heartbreaking request on Jay ahead of tragic death

EastEnders' Lola Pearce has a huge request for her husband Jay Brown next week, after recently learning she had just months to live.

The character was diagnosed with a brain tumour late last year, and recently she was told the tragic news that her treatment wasn't working.

A scene on the soap in February in a special flashforward clip confirmed Lola's death would air this year and before Christmas.

Last month, Lola learned from doctors that her treatment was not working against her cancer and that her tumour had got bigger.

Lola was told she had no more than six months to live, leaving her and her loved ones devastated.

Next week, spoilers reveal Lola begins thinking about her young daughter Lexi's future, knowing she will soon be without her mum.

As Lola prepares to tell her grandfather Billy Mitchell about her heartbreaking prognosis, she has something else to say too.

Knowing that time is running out for her, she decides to get things in order for herself and her family, especially Lexi.

As Jay does his best to help his dying wife, he's left stunned when Lola drops a bombshell on him with a huge request.

Lola tells Jay that she wants him to adopt her daughter, his stepdaughter, but how will he react?

Lexi's dad is Jay's best friend Ben Mitchell, but will Ben accept Lola's dying wish?

It comes as pictures from location teased emotional new scenes for Lola and Jay, ahead of her devastating death on the show.

Cast members Danielle Harold and Jamie Borthwick were pictured filming at the seaside, while the snaps also possibly gave away an upcoming spoiler.

Lola is seen in a wheelchair in the pictures as she is comforted by her partner, which appears to confirm her health continues to decline in the coming weeks.

Actress Danielle has previously opened up about how much it meant for her to be "trusted" with such a big storyline.

She said: "It means so much to be trusted with a storyline like this – one that’s close to many people’s hearts. Sadly many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story and it’s been heart-breaking to speak to the families affected by brain tumours and hear their stories.

"They’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me, and I’m so lucky to have them."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
