June, whose career spanned six decades, was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2008 for her services to Drama and Charity in The Queen's Birthday Honours.
The award-winning actress appeared on Coronation Street, The Bill and Mr Bean but June was best known for playing the iconic chain-smoking Dot Cotton on the BBC soap EastEnders and reigned over Albert Square for 35 years.
Brown quit her role as Dot during the shows 35th anniversary week and claimed it was due to a lack of decent storylines for the character.
The actress described her exit as "almost as if [she's] been bereaved."
June revealed in May 2015 that her eyesight had been failing due to macular degeneration.
Speaking in April 2019, June said that her condition had worsened since undergoing surgery and that she rarely attends social events because of her sight.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, June said: "I never go to soap awards or suchlike now.
"I don't recognise people that I know and they would think I was snubbing them."
June lived alone in Surrey until her death.
