Eastenders have come up trumps after shelving plans on a controversial storyline which would have ended Dot Branning's association with Walford.
June Brown died at the age of 95 in April having played Dot from 1985 - the year the soap started - to 2020, meaning that only her granddaughter Dotty is the only person left from her family tree to remain in Albert Square. However, this appeared to be in question following a contentious storyline involving Dotty on Christmas Day last year.
Dotty - played by Milly Zero - was rocked by the news that good for nothing Nick Cotton, who terrorised his mother in their fractious relationship over the years, was not her real father.
Fans were equally as shocked to discover that Tom 'Rocky' Cotton - Nick's half-brother - could be her biological dad meaning that there was no existing relatives on Albert Square connected to Dot.
Dotty had been sat on the news that her uncle could potentially be her dad since her mum Sandy Gibson made the outrageous claim last Christmas. Her relationship with Rocky had also grown closer in recent weeks which has left Dotty thinking that the claim could be a real possibility.
Vinny Panesar told the news to Rocky that he could be Dotty's biological dad earlier this week, before the two sat for a deep conversation that cleared the air.
Rocky - played by Brian Conley - insisted he was never in a relationship with Sandy and it was not possible for Dotty to be his daughter and that Nick is most definitely her father, with Eastenders thankfully righting any potential wrongs.
That could not be said for one exit from Albert Square on Thursday night as fans fumed about Frankie Lewis' tame departure. Actress Rose Ayling-Ellis has bowed out of the BBC One soap after playing the role of Mick Carter's daughter since 2020.
During the latest hour-long instalment of the programme, Frankie was seen having a heart-to-heart with pub landlord Mick before he accompanied her to the local train station. Flanked by Shirley and Linda, Mick was clearly overcome with emotion as he noticed she had written her luggage tag using the name Frankie Carter.
"I haven't made it official but it just felt right, I hope you don't mind," she told him as Mick replied: "What am I gonna do without my firstborn?"
"You'll be alright, you always are!" Frankie told him through tears before making her way through the train station barriers. Fans took to Twitter to voice their displease, arguing that Frankie "deserved better" for her farewell scene.
