EastEnders' Danniella Westbrook leaves UK behind for 'happiness'

Danniella Westbrook has announced she is leaving the UK to live abroad.

The ex-EastEnders star took to Instagram to give fans her latest life update as she shared a video of her boarding the plane. She claimed to be seeking out a sunnier climate for her "happiness and mindset".

The 49-year-old, best known for playing Sam Mitchell in the BBC soap, also shared a glamorous mirror selfie as she wore a sparkly beret, black jacket, sparkly top, jeans and high heeled boots. She captioned it as she told fans that "today is the day" on Saturday.

Danniella added: "Mixed emotions happy excited by sad too saying goodbye to my [red circle emoji]. But for my happiness & mind set I moved back abroad today [two kiss emojis]." She added: "Plus I am never happier than in the sunshine."

She made the move after a health scare and a return to acting for a one-off performance in an adult only pantomime. Earlier in the month, fans urged the actress to seek help after she felt "drained".

The mum-of-two wrote: "I keep passing out and occasionally having seizures … it’s scaring the hell outta me.

"I know I’m under so much pressure at the moment with my house falling through and trying to get another one rented ASAP with zero joy! But these seizures are draining me."

She was ultimately rushed to hospital on an oxygen mask as she claimed to be hours away from a cardiac arrest. She thanks NHS nurses and doctors for "saving her life".
