EastEnders has been hit by 'plot hole' criticism from viewers, as over night ratings for Christmas Day reveal that less than four million people tuned into watch the much hyped episode.
Airing much later than fans expected, the hour long special arrived late on in BBC One's schedule on Sunday, well after Strictly and directly after the festive episode of Call The Midwife. At the end of Friday's visit to Albert Square, viewers saw Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer, say 'I do' to scheming Janine Butcher, oblivious to the web of lies she'd spun about his ex wife Linda's apparent 'drink drive' crash, which she framed her for.
Janine's deceit was fully exposed, as many EastEnders scandals often are, round the Christmas dinner table as both Jada, who she'd blackmailed to try and get Linda sent to prison and her own daughter Scarlett both threw her under the bus, forcing her to flee, as Mick confessed to Linda that he was still very much in love with her.

Determined not to let her get away with her actions, Mick and Linda gave pursuit in his car, with the doomed for publican shouting that she was 'headed for Dover.' But what shocked those who did tune in, was how quick it took both cars to reach the Channel port from the centre of London., before Mick appeared to meet his maker in the icy waters.
Reacting to the very short trip, one tweeted: "How close is the coast to Walford exactly? Made it Dover in double quick time," with a second commenting: "Loving the wormhole that #EastEnders has created linking Walford and Dover meaning it only takes 30 seconds to drive between the two!"
While EastEnders only attracted an overnight audience of 3.2 million, as bookies predicted, the Christmas Day ratings were topped by King Charles III, with his first festive address to the nations, getting a combined 10.7 million across various channels.
